Licensing FAQ

A license allows you to use our software and services according to the license terms set in the End User License Agreement (EULA). The EULA is a legal document. You may not use our software and any related services without entering the End User License Agreement.

When you purchase our software, you acquire the right (or license) to use it in accordance with the EULA. The EULA explains exactly how you can use our application, specifies conditions of such use, and sets certain restrictions on it.

On the current page you will find answers to frequently asked questions about our EULA.

FAQ: Product Licensing

Our products are sold on a subscription basis.

Starting from the purchase date, you obtain 12 months of free updates for the purchased product(s). At the end of the 12 months, you may, at your discretion, pay approximately 60% of the original price for renewing your subscription to receive another 12 months of free updates.

If you choose not to renew, you may continue to use the last version you purchased. The 12-month timeframe only applies to receiving new versions and updates of our software and not to the general usage rights, provided the EULA has not been violated.

Note that you can renew a subscription after it has expired. The cost of renewal will increase after 30 days after the expiration date and keep increasing on a monthly basis. Please contact our customer service team if your subscription has expired or if you need more information about the terms of our subscriptions.

For all XenoGuard variants: yes, of course! For XenoGuard Basic, Plus, Premium, and most of the extensions, there is no time limit on using them.

Some extensions may stop working after their subscription expires. However, you will be explicitly informed at the time of your purchase if and when the extension becomes unusable.

Before a subscription expires, you will be notified in advance to give you enough time for renewing your subscription. If you do not extend your subscription by the 13th month after the purchase, the monthly cost of renewal will increase.

For more information on renewals and what they cost after the subscription expiration, please contact our customer service team.

In general, yes, but there are two limitations to remember:

  • You need to own both devices as a company or private individual.
  • The license will only allow XenoGuard to be run on one machine at the same time, even if the software is running unattended, such as on a build server or deployment server.

Therefore, you can install XenoGuard on a PC and laptop and use them interchangeably but not simultaneously.

No. Purchasing an upgrade for our product extends your current license and does not give you two separate licenses for the old and the new versions.

If you purchase a new license instead of upgrading your old software, you can use it on two computers at the same time. However, the software may not be resold or rented. Please refer to other frequently asked questions and the End User License Agreement.

FAQ: License Activation

To activate the software, we record the serial number together with your surname, first name, e-mail address, and company name through the registration window. The data will be stored permanently on our server.

However, all license information is used solely to ensure registration and user account management. We treat all data strictly confidential and do not grant any third party access to the data.

Yes. If the computer to be activated is not connected to the Internet, the registration window generates a text file that you must send to us. It contains the same information as an online registration.

Then, you will receive a license file from us, which you must import using the same registration window. After that, the software will be activated for 3 months on this computer. Every 3 months you have to repeat the process. 10 days before the re-activation deadline, you will start receiving a notification while using XenoGuard.

The person who completed the purchase, for instance, your procurement manager, receives all access data and serial numbers.

All licenses become assigned to this person in our database.

Our product must be activated individually on every computer following these steps:

  • Download and install XenoGuard using the downloadable link from the purchase confirmation email.
  • Finish the registration by entering the serial number (one per machine) and an email address that was used for purchasing the product.

In the future, it will be possible to assign every license to its own user when purchasing multiple licenses at once. However, this will not take place until July 2022. We will inform you about this as soon as any changes in the registration process will take place.

Extensions that are not included in the main product are activated directly in XenoGuard. This must be done on each computer where the extension will be used. Extensions must be purchased separately for every machine where a different license is used.

To unlock the extension, right-click on it in the Workspace Explorer and select Register Extension from the context menu. The registration window for the activation will open.

Once your product has been installed and activated on two different computers, it is not possible to use it on a third machine.

However, you can deregister XenoGuard on one of the computers to release the license and activate it on a new machine.

If deregistration is not possible because your computer has a defect, or its hard disk has been deleted, please contact our support.

All purchased products are numbered consecutively, regardless of the version or product type (main product or an extension).

If your company buys multiple licenses at a time, you get a block of consecutive serial numbers to enable simple serial number management in your company.

For instance, you will get serial numbers from 2021-1000-000100 to 2021-1000-000105 if you purchase six licenses at once.

FAQ: Other licensing questions

No. We do not collect any user data and do not evaluate any information about the usage of our software.

The only data that is transmitted is licensing data to ensure that all customers use only registered versions and that there is no multiple usages of individual licenses.

You can find the serial number on the invoice you received by email after purchasing your product. You can also access your serial number online.

To do this:

  • Log in to your XenoGuard account using the same credentials as for the past purchase you need information about.
  • In your personal user area, you will find a table of your purchases together with the serial numbers.
